New hotel openings in 2018

Fasano Angra dos Reis
In 2018 Brazil is back. After a difficult 2016 and 2017 with the positive and negative impact of the Olympics, the Zika scare stories, economic downturn and government turmoil, Brazil is finally on the up again with a number of new luxury hotels poised to open.

We are perhaps the most excited about the opening of the Hotel Fasano Angra which will finally open on 25th January 2018 after a number of delays but is an exciting new addition to the Brazilian luxury hotel scene. Located in Angra dos Reis it will be an ideal addition to a visit to Rio de Janeiro and is the 4th Fasano property to open in Brazil and is bound to have the same high standards of the Fasano family’s 3 other properties in Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo and Boa Vista. There is also a Fasano in Punta del Este in Uruguay.

The Fasano group should also open properties in Salvador and Belo Horizonte within the next few months of 2018 in two cities which are in need of luxury boutique properties.

A newcomer to Brazil to will be the Anantara group which will be the first Asian hotel flag to come to Brazil when it opens a flagship hideaway, Anantara Maraú Bahia Resort, in July. The property will boast a beach setting next to the Bay of Camamu on the Maraú Peninsula in Bahia, along a stunning stretch of Atlantic coastline.  The group will be taking over the site of the current Kiaroa Eco Luxury Resort and bring new life to the property and some luxury competition.

Juma Amazon Lodge are planning on opening a luxury hotel in downtown Manaus, a city bereft of quality accommodation for years, but will be set to have a couple of good options after last years opening of the Hotel Villa Amazonia.

In the Pantanal, the Peralta boat promises to bring some sophistication to jaguar spotting and an ideal way to explore the northern Pantanal. Check out the video below;

It was also announced a couple of weeks ago that the Six Senses group will be be starting work on their first South America project up in Baia Formosa, near Natal. This will be an exciting addition to the north east hotel scene.

2018 is looking great for Brazil.
