Brazil has almost 8000 kms of Atlantic coastline so it’s no wonder the country offers up some great waves and some wonderful opportunities for surfing. The laid back Brazilian lifestyle, beach culture, lovely climate and great water temperature make Brazil a great place to surf. There is some excellent surf in Bahia as well as near Pipa beach and Porto de Galinhas but the major surfing centres are located between Rio de Janeiro and Florianopolis, with both these major cities offering good waves.
There are some excellent destinations for hiking holidays and trekking in Brazil from short day hikes to longer treks. Probably the best locations for hiking exist in the Chapada Diamantina near Salvador and the Chapada dos Veadeiros near Brasilia. Both locations offer spectacular views and treks through the cerrado forested landscape with beautiful table top mountains and waterfalls.
Brazil is a great destination for scuba diving and with so much coastline it’s not surprising! Dolphins, turtles, sharks, reefs and wrecks make it a great place for a diving holiday. There are 3 distinct areas for scuba diving in Brazil: off the southern coastline near Paraty and Ilha Grande, around the north east coast near Recife, Pipa, Natal and Maceio; and last but by no means least in the incredible archipelago of Fernando de Noronha.
Brazil is one of the best places in the world for kitesurfing. The northern beaches, particularly between Jericoacoara and Fortaleza offer an amazing mix of strong winds and trendy beach towns, perfect for a kite surfing holiday to Brazil.
Brazil isn’t well known for its rafting but unsurprisingly for a country of its size it has some good fast waters throughout the country which can offer rafting expeditions lasting up to a number of days. We can arrange rafting trips that last from a few hours to a few days.
